"Word Nerd" Nominated for Rhode Island Teen Book Award

... So my "Google Alerts" informed me the other day that "Word Nerd" has been nominated for the Rhode Island Teen Book Award. What tickles me about this is twofold: One, it means at least a handful of Americans have read my book (sales! sales! sales!), and two, I'm on a list with Carl Hiaasen, author of such amazing young adult novels as "Hoot" and "Flush." That feels like a brush with greatness.
