I'm Off To Toronto, Ottawa and Winnipeg

Heading off tomorrow to Toronto, where I'll be attending the Indigo Teen Read Awards on Saturday night, followed by Word on the Street on Sunday (2:40, Children's Tent).

On Sunday night I head to Ottawa for two packed days of presentations at schools and at libraries. I know I'm at both the Carlingwood and Nepean branches on Monday.

On Tuesday I fly to Winnipeg, for another round of school presentations, and The Manitoba Young Readers' Choice Awards!! "Word Nerd" is the 2010 winner. I can't wait. I'll also be doing another launch for "Dear George Clooney: Please Marry My Mom" at McNally-Robinson's Prairie Ink cafe (their Grant St. location) on the eve of the 29th of September at 7:30 pm.

Speaking of George - so far, nary a peep from him ... It's almost two weeks since I sent the book to his agent's and publicist's offices. We shall see ...

Lastly, here's another photo of a copy of "Dear George" found in someone's home ... if you have any other photos of the book, or someone reading the book, please send them along and I'll post them!

Book Launch at Kidsbooks, September 15

I had my book launch for Dear George on Wednesday night, at Kidsbooks on Broadway in Vancouver. It was a great success - over fifty people turned up, and I think everyone enjoyed the evening. Thanks again to the lovely women at Kidsbooks, who are so supportive of their local authors. This is some of them, below: Sarah Bagshaw, me, Emily Naylor and owner Phyllis Simon!

A Photo From a Fan

I just had to post this photo. This comes from a boy named Julian. He's apparently a voracious reader, and read "Dear George Clooney" in one sitting. Best of all, he really liked it. Thank you Julian, and I hope I see you at my book launch this Wednesday night at Kidsbooks!

So I'm Sending the Book to George Clooney

A lot of people have been asking me if I've sent a copy of my new book, "Dear George Clooney: Please Marry My Mom," to the man himself. The answer - until today - was a wishy-washy, "I dunno, it would be weird, I'll think about it."

Then, a couple of days ago, I got an e mail from a Barnes and Noble bookseller in the States. Her name is Nicole and she has her own book-reviewing blog. She also asked me if I'd sent George a copy. Anyway, I'm not sure why Nicole tipped me over the edge, but I've decided the time has come to take the plunge. As of this afternoon two copies are going to go, Fed Ex, to George's agent and publicist respectively, along with a letter from me.

I suspect the most likely outcome is no response at all. Or, perhaps I'll get a form letter like Violet does in the book. (If they enclose a photo of George, I will still be very, very happy).

I'll keep you posted. Let's not hold our breath though, okay?
